Getting Started

Your first untitled tag game session should be short and specific. Join the live recode place (14044547200) by _create, not the 2021 Legacy place. Recode opened 26 December 2023 and dropped the recode label on 24 March 2025. You will land in an online lobby of up to 40 players, on a map that already has two rounds of life, or in a vote. There is no campaign, no starter weapon, and no private tutorial island. The lesson is the public round.

Keep this wiki open on Controls while you learn the keys, and set best settings (FOV, third person, camera shake off) before round two. If a chase already feels unfair, skip ahead to Movement. If a vote card is a mystery, use Gamemodes. If the map is a maze, skim Maps. Spend coins later in Shop and Coins. Redeem strings from Codes as soon as you can open the menu.

Join the right place

Search untitled tag game on Roblox and confirm the place ID 14044547200. The Welcome Recode join badge is the “you made it” stamp for this version. Voice-chat and Infinite Crown are alternate servers; stay on a normal public server for your first hour so you see standard voting, standard maps, and standard roles.

After you load:

  1. Press Q for the menu (the in-game browser). Bookmark utg://codes, utg://shop, and utg://inventory in your head.
  2. Press B to prove the shop opens. Press I to prove inventory opens. Press G once so you know where emotes live.
  3. Look at the leaderboard (Tab on PC). Roles and tag counts sit there. Your name will pick up a fire icon later if you chain tags.

You do not need a gamepass to play. Triple Vote, Double Coins, Binoculars, More Emotes, and Builder’s Club Lite are optional. Ignore popups until you can slide without thinking.

Vote like it matters

Every round you see three gamemode cards. Every two rounds you also vote a map. Click a card. AFK votes still count against you because the lobby will pick something, and you will spawn into a rule set you never read.

For session one, prefer modes whose win condition you can say in one sentence:

  • Classic — taggers and runners swap. Be a runner when the clock hits zero.
  • Bomb — pass the bomb before it explodes. Last player standing wins.
  • Crown — keep the crown; peasants steal it.
  • Infected — one patient zero; tagged players join infected. Last runner is the dream (Lone Survivor).
  • Freeze — taggers freeze, teammates thaw.

Skip Chaos, Slasher, and mixed-role cards until you can tag on purpose. Limited cards such as Royal FFA and The Storm are fine if you accept that the lobby is experimenting. Misprints (Hot Potato, Speed Classic, Medic Infected, and the rest) can replace a card you thought you understood. Gamemodes is the full list. The tier list is vote flavor, not homework.

Maps last two rounds. Use round one to find high ground, a swing bar, and a zipline. Use round two to chase or flee along those lines. Maps names the main pool: Area 51, Bloxburg, Chaos Canyon, Courtyard, Craigville, Crosspaths, Crossroads, Faction Action, Festive Town, Glass Houses, Haunted Mansion, Pizza Pie Parlor, Raven Rock, Roblox HQ, Rocket Arena, Santa’s Stronghold, Sword Fights on the Heights, Teapot Temple, Titanis’ Reservoir, Ultimate Paintball Arena, Westside Rock. Highway Havoc, Ravage Rock, and Toy Arena show up as limited cards some weeks.

Roles, tagging, and No Tag Back

You spawn with a role color and an objective. Tag with left mouse on PC or a tap on mobile (no gear equipped). The click is melee-range parkour, not a projectile. Typical payout is about 10 coins and 5 XP. Tagging the same player again in the same round pays less or nothing, so hunt new names.

No Tag Back stops an instant revenge tag. Since 30 August 2026 the cooldown is a timer next to the icon. After you tag, leave. Standing on the victim is how beginners get tagged the moment the timer ends. Full mechanic: No Tag Back. Crown voters should read crown before they treat every card like Classic.

Role swap is not universal:

  • Classic, Bomb, and Crown mostly swap the “it” status.
  • Infected and Team Swap convert the victim onto your team.
  • Free-For-All and several combat modes eliminate.

If you do not know the rule, survive first, then read the objective text on the HUD. Do not copy the nearest Players creator clip until you can finish a Classic round without forgetting to click.

Basic movement in the first hour

Hold W to run. That is the entire sprint. C on the ground is a slide (locked heading, camera free, A/D curve). C just before you hit the floor is a roll, which adds about +9 to +22 walkspeed depending on how early you pressed it. Late rolls are weak. Missing the floor entirely is just a crouch when you land.

Space at a ledge vaults. Spam Space on ladders. Space on a swing bar swings; a fall swing turns a drop into horizontal speed. Jump toward a zipline to grab it. Checker-pattern walls wallrun. Touch a rail to railgrind; roll on the rail to railfling. Tagpads on Craigville and Bloxburg launch you. Smashable parts break and open holes.

Session-one goals, not flashy tech:

  • Slide through one gap instead of jumping it.
  • Land one intentional roll.
  • Vault one ledge you would have jumped.
  • Ride one zipline or one swing bar without panic-dropping.

Save slide boosts, high vaults, momentum stacking, and bunnyhop notes for Movement. Bind confusion belongs on Controls.

First coins, XP, and codes

Coins drop from tags, from winning the round (often 10+), from XP level-ups, from world pickups when the server is large enough, and from codes. XP sits on the HUD; each level pays coins, and later levels pay more. Trails, emotes, outfits, and tag effects are cosmetics. They do not make rolls longer.

Open Qutg://codes or use the shop redeem field. Paste strings from the Codes page one at a time. Do this before you buy a trail you will replace in a week. Then open utg://shop (B) and utg://inventory (I) so you know how to equip what you already own. Full economy notes are on Shop and Coins.

Achievements you might trip in week one without trying: Welcome Recode (join), Flip the Script (see a misprint), Drive By (tag during a slide), Dizzy (roll backward), Roll Expert (clean rolls), Hot Streak (10 tags without being tagged). Gymnast (two fall swings), Hot Pursuit (full zipline), Lone Survivor (last Infected runner), Blazing Trail / Inferno Blitz / Scorched Earth (25 / 50 / 100 streak) can wait.

Your first-hour loop

Play four rounds, then stop and review. Round 1: vote Classic or Infected if they appear, find one high ledge. Round 2: same map, try a roll into a slide. Round 3: new map, locate a swing bar or zipline before you chase. Round 4: redeem codes, equip nothing flashy, and queue again. If you spent the hour only dying on the ground, you practiced the wrong layer. Height and timing beat cosmetics. After that loop, this page is done: Controls for binds, Movement for tech, Gamemodes for vote cards, Maps for layouts, Shop and Coins for spending, plus Codes, the tier list, and Players when you want names instead of mechanics.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which Roblox place should I join?

Join untitled tag game place 14044547200, the recode experience by _create. The 2021 Legacy place is separate. This wiki’s Getting Started steps assume recode.

What should I do in the first five minutes?

Open the menu with Q, redeem codes, confirm B is shop and I is inventory, then vote a simple mode such as Classic. Skim Controls if a key does nothing.

How do tagging and coins work for beginners?

Left click or tap to tag. Expect about 10 coins and 5 XP per new player. Repeat tags pay less. Wins pay 10+ coins. Spending details are on Shop and Coins.

I keep getting tagged. What now?

Use No Tag Back to leave after a tag, then change height. Movement covers rolls and vaults. Maps explains why ground-level sprints fail on Crossroads and Glass Houses.

Which gamemode should I vote first?

Classic, Infected, Bomb, Crown, or Freeze. Save Chaos and combat modes until you can tag on purpose. Rules and misprints are on Gamemodes.

Do I need gamepasses on day one?

No. Triple Vote and Double Coins help later. Learn slide and roll first, then read Shop and Coins before spending Robux.
